A Livingston High School junior, a varsity athlete, and the tutor who remembers exactly what it feels like to finally understand something that used to be confusing.
Hi, I’m Cole Shapiro. I’m a junior at Livingston High School in Livingston, New Jersey, and I started Cole Tutors because I love that moment when something finally clicks for a student — when a problem that looked impossible five minutes ago suddenly makes sense.
I’ve spent my whole life in Livingston classrooms, so I know the teachers, the curriculum, and the spots where students tend to get stuck. Because I learned this material recently myself, I remember what actually made it make sense — not the textbook version, but the way a real person explains it to a friend.
Every session is just me and your student. No distractions, no keeping up with a class — we move at exactly their pace.
We work on the real homework, the upcoming test, the tricky unit. I meet students where they are and build up from there.
Being confused is part of learning. I keep sessions relaxed and encouraging so students feel safe asking anything.
Beyond the classroom, I’m a lifelong athlete and play varsity baseball for the Livingston High School Lancers. Sports taught me things that show up in every tutoring session: how much steady, focused reps matter, how to stay patient through a slump, and how the right coaching at the right moment can completely change someone’s confidence.
That’s the mindset I bring to tutoring. Progress isn’t about being naturally gifted — it’s about showing up, putting in focused work, and having someone in your corner who believes you can get there. I want to be that person for your student.
I tutor in person throughout Northern New Jersey, and over Zoom for families anywhere. Whether we meet at your kitchen table or on a video call, the goal is the same: help your student understand the material, keep their grades up, and feel genuinely confident walking into their next class.

Set Up a First Session“Math went from the subject my son avoided to the one he actually wants to show me. Cole is patient, reliable, and he explains things like a kid who just learned them — because he did.”
Tell me about your student and I’ll follow up to set up a free intro session.
